The Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center is the venue for national sports event like the Palarong Pambansa (National Games) and other government affairs in the city. It has an Olympic size swimming pool and an oval track. It is also a favorite place for locals to jog and exercise.

Xavier Sports and Country Club offers a ten-pin bowling alley, billiard hall, tennis court, fitness center, swimming pool and a Wi-Fi connection. The city has several martial arts center which includes Aikido, Taekwondo and others. Eskrima-Kali or popularly known as Arnis is a Filipino stick and dagger martial arts. The Cagayan de Oro Arnis Association occasionally holds competitions and exhibition games in malls around the city. Unfortunately it is not a popular martial art sport since it is a bit physical (body blows with a stick) and aggressive.
